Bryan Young

Born in 1969 in Traverse City, Michigan, Bryan Young grew up in Phoenix, Arizona and Coronado, California with his mother and two brothers. Winters were spent hiking the desert mountains around Phoenix and body surfing the beaches of southern California while summers were spent traveling the Great Lakes exploring the woods and beaches.

In 1991 Bryan Graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. Bryan was the recipient of the Stanley Harrington Art Scholar and it was at Hope that Bryan began to develop the direction of his life’s work. Designing paintings, sculptures and drawings depicting wildlife Bryan continued to develop his ideas while living in South Dakota, Texas and North Carolina. In 1995 Bryan completed a Masters Degree in Education from Western Michigan University.

In 1996 Bryan was hired as a faculty member at the Kalamazoo Institute of Art. His work has been displayed throughout the Midwest since 1993. In 2003 Bryan relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota to pursue a career in sculpture. The first major showing of his work was in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2005. Bryan Young lives with his wife and son in Bloomington, Minnesota.
