Patricia Canelake lives and works in St. Paul and Knife River, Minnesota.

She is a 2006 recipient of the St. Paul Foundation Travel and Study Grant, and recently traveled and worked in China and at I-Park Artists Residency in East Haddam Connecticut. Canelake served a two-year term as a panelist for the Minnesota Artists Exhibition Program at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and has received an Arrowhead Regional Artist Fellowship Award, two McKnight Artist Fellowships and was a finalist for the Bush Artist fellowship. She has a painting studio in rural Duluth Township and works in both Knife River Minnesota and in St. Paul. Her paintings represent Lake Superior at the small fishing village of Knife River, Minnesota, and include marina, sky, land and water studies. She paints in an expressionistic manner, working directly from nature using lush oil paints on linen or canvas. 

Artist Residencies were awarded from The MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, New Hampshire; The Yaddo Colony, Sarasota Springs, New York; and Harper's Ferry National Park, West Virginia.

She has painted and exhibited in Provincetown, Massachusetts, New York, New York, and The Headlands Center for the Arts, Fort Barry, California and throughout Minnesota. Her work has been shown at the Minneapolis Institute of Art, the Minnesota Museum of Art, the Tweed Museum, Provincetown Art Association, Gayle Elston Gallery in New York.
